Memory: July 1975, Oslofjord

It was one of the polar white nights. The VESPER yacht sailed through the transparent and crystalline surface of the Norwegian waters. It was almost midnight, and the sun fully illuminated the fabulous landscape of the fjord. I enjoyed the lonely cruise. The scent of the deck wood combined with the refreshing sea breeze made me feel deeply relaxed. I had not felt so relaxed for a long time.

Sailing along the longest Sognefjorden fjord in Europe, I heard an intriguing sound. Looking towards the horizon, where the hills met, I saw galloping horses. Beautiful fjord horses – the Norwegian horses – with dishevelled manes, with their dun colours shining brightly in the cool northern sun.

This feeling cannot be forgotten: the pure, undisturbed nature and me. I return in my thoughts to this spectacle with Oslo Nature Wood.

Memory: April, 2017, Milan at dawn

Departure day. The rays of the rising sun lit up the streets of Milan. After the night gala at La Scala, ending the International Festival of Design, I stopped at the eclectic Caffè Luce.
Empty streets, the city still sleeping, audible sound of bustling waiters getting nearby restaurants ready to open and the unforgettable scent of cinnamon – vanilla coffee. Inspired by the Festival, where I had the pleasure to admire contemporary art, I created my most valuable piece of work.

Inspired by the artistic spirit, dazed by the beauty of the city, I knew that I also had to compose a fragrance which will remind me constantly of this moment … Milano Modern Wood.

MILANO Modern Wood is a creator of true art, a unique moment in which we know what we live for. The combination of a distinct and bold aroma of cardamom with a hint of hot pepper fire up creativity, and the delicate note of leaves of violet and fresh sage are subtly stimulating, giving the whole a youthful breeze. Memory: March, 1989, London by Night

I couldn’t sleep that night. Wanting to get some English air, I went for a walk. Drops of rain crashed against the black umbrella, creating colourful illuminations with the lights of the Westminster Square.

It was two o’clock in the morning, and I could hear subdued sounds of the piano from a distance. Arranging themselves in a subtle melody, they were like film music heard from outside the frame. Following the raw London streets towards the music, I felt like the main character in film noir and an exciting thrill went through me. What script is written for me today?

Finally, London revealed one of its secrets to me: I came across a small, cosy jazz club. A few musicians playing on the stage, an oak inlaid bar with amber reflections from the glass of cognac I ordered.
I took the last available table and I surrendered to this impression emphasized by the noble drink. I spent the rest of the night like this and I felt special … it was good vintage – London Riverwood..

Recollection

So many years have passed and I still keep coming back to that hot evening in Rome. Even now, I can feel this warm wind which delicately stroke my face as I was traversing the streets of the Eternal City at sunset riding a well-worn Vespa of a friend of mine.

After all these years, I can still recall the scent of omni present sandalwood and plums with their truly exceptional flavour that summer. Equally well I can remember a dark-haired girl who, for no apparent reason, a dozen golden balloons and elegant black shoes in her hand was walking down the paved streets barefoot as if she wanted sense the history that Rome has to tell.

This sight amused me so that I stopped and offered her a ride home. She looked at me with her brown eyes I had never seen before and after a moment of hesitation, without a word she accepted my proposal. When I felt her body against my back I could also sense a warm and intense scent of vanilla and cinnamon.

That summer was filled with a true and intensive fragrance of Rome … Rome VINOVE.

Recollection

I was the last to leave the office. I made it … a complete and accepted project was lying there on my desk. Huge investment. And worth every minute of work!

This week has been really tough. All that rush, no sleep, stress … and yet it really gets me going, it makes my life meaningful and makes my dreams come true.

Proud of myself, I roll up the shirt’s sleeves while the tie goes into the basket. I am certainly not staying home tonight. The driver is taking me through the beautifully illuminated streets of the city centre. I tell him to stop and I start walking following the crowd. I enter the first pub on my way. It is stuffy and loud. The air is filled with a stinging aroma of ginger and sandalwood.

I order a drink, then the next one. I am a little dizzy from intense sensations and scents. My senses are attacked by the citrus freshness and the depth of saffron alternately.

Recollection

On my way to Dubai, I drop by my Paris office. I am tired of the flight and I dream of a moment of solitude sunk in a glass of French champagne.

I take the lift from the top floor and press the button. After a while the lift stops and the door slowly moves to the side … it is such a pleasant feeling to see her again. She looks at me and her shining, navy-blue eyes are piercing into me.

Her red hair delicately falls on the shoulders while the saffron dress subtly complements her femininity. A sense a refreshing fragrance of juicy tangerines and peaches. I stop as close to her as possible to clearly experience her scent. My senses are attacked by a tone of sweet vanilla.

In my mind, I am travelling to one of the gardens in Paris; I take her hand to offer her a journey into the remotest corners of my soul …

Victory!!! We’ve got the Grand Prix!!! I’m still getting carried away with euphoria! I still feel as if the champagne was gushing all over me, the confetti was just falling upon on me, and a girl with fiery eyes was leaning on my shoulder!

I love car racing. Today, on the Silverstone track, I was rooting for the winner. He was my favourite since the beginning. He’s ambitious, clever, demanding towards himself and the Formula One car, he’s focused and mentally strong. He’s courageous and isn’t afraid to take risk. He’s got instincts, the sixth sense…but, above all, he’s my friend.

It was my round birthday. My friends opened a bottle of cognac from my, fine year. Nothing has tasted to me better. We talked about our life paths, investments, projects, relationships, children, women and plans in a mature and calm manner. We had already achieved everything. There is nothing that we have to do, only everything that we can do.

From time to time, the saxophone caught the threads of our conversations, the double bass highlighted life breakthroughs, whereas the female voice fed our male longings.

Is there anything more fascinating than a sunset on a beach in Bahrain? With live music, hypnotising beat of the drums and bare feet, almost one hundred young people dancing on the sand? The orange and the red of the setting sun add a glow to their silhouettes, whereas the longer and longer shadows are playing boldly with music. The scent of Campari and freshly squeezed orange juice is mixed with refreshing green tea and seductive aromas of youth.

A handsome guy runs out of an orange super sports car parking near the beach, and the dancing crowd grabs him, tosses him up and sings in his honour… It’s my eldest nephew. He’s turning 18 today. He winks at me to thank me for the birthday gift.

It’s such a nice feeling being in Milan again!

Sitting at a table of my favourite confectioner’s, I was observing busy Milan as well as the elegance and dynamics of its dwellers. I was glancing at the street and at the fashionably dressed people walking along it. One of the women sitting near me caught my eye in a unique manner. She was emanating with downright electrifying charm. I don’t know whether it was the black of her hair and the distinctiveness of her features, the perfectly cut dress, or the bouquet of peonies in her hand. I couldn’t get my eyes off her. She courageously gazed back at me, finished her coffee, and left, leaving me in a very good mood.

In the evening that day, I was at a fashion show. As usual, I was sitting in the first row, savouring crumbly cookies with rose jam. I was applauding the fine outfits, wondering, at the same time, who was the person that presented such fine, exquisitely feminine and sexy clothing items. Finally, she appeared…. It was the woman from the confectioner’s. She immediately recognised me and gave me one of those daring lingering looks that you just can’t forget.
